Griff Danheim, Houston, TX Volunteer State Advocate
I live in Houston, Texas. I hope to raise the awareness of Leave No Trace in my state by coordinating efforts with federal, state, county and municipal groups to develop long term plans, programs and assist with employee/volunteer training.
The ranks of Leave No Trace resources in the state grew in 2010 with numerous new Trainers completing our Trainer Course. We continue to expand the outreach with the help of the Traveling Trainer Teams and have a number of events planned throughout the year in Texas. The new Boy Scouts of American Outdoor Ethics Program also continues to grow at rapid pace. Our Girls Scouts are also busy in offering sold out trainer courses.
Our state is a large one geographically which presents unique challenges for our coordinated outreach efforts. Stay tuned for new changes during the year to better meet the needs of the outdoor and corporate communities in Texas. I always welcome any contact, feedback and interest in the Leave No Trace program.
Last but certainly not least, thanks to everyone that is out there spreading the word for Leave No Trace and making our outdoors a better place. You make a difference with each person you impact. See you outdoors!
