The third tier of Leave No Trace training is the Awareness Workshop. An Awareness Workshop is any formal Leave No Trace presentation that is one-day or less in length. These presentations can include a wide variety of programs ranging from a 30-minute presentation to a day-long workshop. Experiential-based training, in an outdoor setting is encouraged.
These workshops are designed for educators, children, college students, Girl Scouts, outdoor professionals, Boy Scouts, trail crews, hiking club members and others interested in Leave No Trace skills and ethics. The course leader for an Awareness Workshop can be a Leave No Trace Master Educator, a Leave No Trace Trainer or other individual familiar with Leave No Trace.
Participants receive introductory training in the skills and ethics of Leave No Trace. Workshop topics include the underlying ethics and seven principles of Leave No Trace:

Who: Anyone and everyone Description: This awareness workshop is designed for participants to learn about Leave No Trace outdoor ethics. Participants will become familiar with the seven principles of Leave No Trace and learn skills that can be applied to their everyday lives and to their adventure in the outdoors. Additional discussion will focus on current concerns, local considerations, and techniques for unique areas and activities. Every participant will receive a Leave No Trace seven principle hang tag and door prizes will be given out as well. Half hour information sessions will also be presented between Noon and 3pm on Saturday, October 18 and Sunday October 19 at Sierra Trading Post.

Description: This awareness workshop is designed for participants to learn about Leave No Trace outdoor ethics. Participants will become familiar with the seven principles of Leave No Trace and learn techniques that can be applied to their everyday lives. The workshop will begin with an educational indoor presentation followed by a hike to discuss and practice the newly acquired skills of minimum impact recreation. Participants need to be prepared for walking on unimproved trails and be dressed properly for the weather. Every participant will receive a Leave No Trace seven principle hang tag.

Where: Longview Lake Group Camping Area, Grandview, MO (this Awareness Workshop is part of the Cub Scout Family Cookout).
Who: Intended for Cubs Scouts and Boy Scouts
What: The Cub Scout Family Campout and Leave No Trace Awareness Workshop is an opportunity for Cubs and their families to start the Cub Scout year off with a FUN outdoor event.
Cost: $8 per person, including adults and siblings. Fees cover food, insurance, program, and supplies.

Who: Adult outdoor enthusiasts pursuing outdoor ethics educational resources.
Description: This is an extended indoor introduction to Leave No Trace given through powerpoint and discussion, designed to bring about awareness of outreach efforts at all levels and provide resources and information for organizations/individuals interested in pursuing Leave No Trace community involvment. Time will be spent discussing impacts of gear choices as well as local initiatives, communities, partnerships, and how to get involved.
